Preparing the upper limb for function

This is a one day practical course that will help the therapist to prepare the upper limb to maximise functional training through:

  • Secondary complications in a neurological shoulder such as impingement, tendonitis and capsulitis and how to modify therapy
  • Principles of handling skills
  • Facilitation techniques of the upper limb
  • Realignment and stabilisation of pelvis and trunk
  • Creating an effective base of support
  • Scapula setting and mobility

This course is aimed at therapists working in neurology or about to move into the area of neurology and wish to develop their clinical reasoning and knowledge base about how to prepare the upper limb so that treatment effectiveness is maximised.
