This course is designed to make you more confident working with patients with neurological conditions, alongside your Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy colleagues
This is a very practical based course for occupational therapists and physiotherapists addressing the core skills required to assess and treat neurological patients at an introductory level. It will be case study based with both a joint and discipline specific focus on clinical reasoning and the practical aspects of intervention.
Day one covers:
- The patients’ rehabilitation potential
- Neurological screening and assessment (joint and discipline specific)
- Early positioning, mobility and safety factors
Day two covers:
- Clinical reasoning and patient centred treatment planning
- Handling skills focussing on pelvis trunk and upper limb
- Practical treatment ideas (joint and discipline specific areas e.g. physios – mobility; OTs – cognition & perception)
