Shannon is dedicated and driven to promote, teach and implement the use of evidence-based practice and research to ensure that people are receiving the highest quality therapy they can possibly receive.
Shannon Williams is a Senior Physiotherapist of over 20 years, who has specialised in Neurology and is an Australian Physiotherapy Association (APA) titled member in neurology. She has worked in a wide variety of speciality areas including stroke, head injury, spinal and neurogenetic conditions in inpatient, outpatient and community settings across Australia and the UK.
Shannon has a Master’s Degree in Neurorehabilitation (MNR) and has a Postgraduate in education. Shannon has lectured in neurology and has been involved in education of physio students for many years, including being an Australian Physiotherapy Council student mentor.
Shannon has been involved in several research projects namely: Electrical Stimulation for Stroke Recovery, Simulation for Examination and Learning, Huntington’s Disease and Falls, and Balance Deficits in the CMT (Charcot-Marie Tooth) population. She is currently principal investigator of the WA branch of a national study in Ataxia management, which is linked with Monash University.
As well her extensive research and teaching, Shannon also applies her specialised skills and passion to providing rehabilitation and therapy to people with neurological conditions. Shannon is authentic, thorough and extremely efficient in her approach which helps people to progress in their skills and ability, to reach the goals that are meaningful to them. Shannon provides individualised one-on-one therapy in the home environment for people with neurological conditions.
